collection contest imageEvery week, we have had a contest hosted here at Artfire LInk. The winner of the contest gets a free month of fees at Artfire.com up to $13.00. This is completely sponsored by My Father’s Gifts from Artfire. The very last week of each month is reserved for our semi finalists from the first weeks in the month to go head to head. The Collection most voted upon wins.

However, we realized that sharing from our website here can be challenging between several devices. Some older ipads don’t see the poll widget and some do. SO, Next week, we will be doing things a bit different. instead of a poll, we will be counting comments under each collection at Artfire.com. Thus creating more traffic to Artfire, to our shops and hopefully, more sales. It’s a whole lot easier for you to share the collections from the collection page at Artfire, to your social media pages like Google +, Facebook and Twitter this way too.

The collection with the most comments, wins that particular week. There is only one issue. Votes per week, per collection submission.

SO, collections submitted will have to be fresh and within a 7 day timeframe and not 30 day timeframe. This will offer new collections with fresh content. The finalists will also have to submit a fresh collection as well for the finalist competition.

We know this may take a little extra effort, but it will also create more traffic to our main site, Artfire.com as well as teach you great collection creation techniques. Make sure your item images are great! Dark and blurry images for items for sale will not make a good collection component. Use Picasa for super easy adjusting on the first image in your listings for white balance, blur and light balance quality. A higher pixel of images the better..recommend 1000 pixels or better.

FedEx Phishing

Recently, I had the pleasure of receiving a very phishy email that looked like authentic communication from FedEx. But there are some elements of the this particular email that where immediate red flags. First, there is no phone number to call them directly. Second, They always ask for these elements:

Kindly complete the below form and send it to the email address given above.
 
FULL NAMES;
TELEPHONE:
POSTAL ADDRESS
CITY:
STATE:
COUNTRY
OCCUPATION:
AGE:

Third, the end of the email domain is not a true Fedex domain. A domain is the words after the @ sign in an email dress. Here is an image of the phishing email I received:

Phishing email FedEx

The email wanted you to send money and your information to a domain I recognize as a spambot for websites. @163.com. This is a well known hacker domain by buddypress website managers. The biggest red flag is they asked for money. As a FedEx account holder, they never send a package anywhere before they weight it in and you pay for the service(sender) If ever, something happens, there are strict instructions to send the package back to the sender. They deliver to your residence or office and request delivery confirmation signatures personally.

If you ever have questions about a suspicious email from any company, just do a google search for the company name and the keyword: Phishing or Fraud

Most companies are well aware of what’s being impersonated as their domain. Domains such as FedEx.com can only be hacked..at the server level..within the host, and most of those are dedicated servers making it even harder to hack. If you ever get this email from “FedEx Delivery Service”<fedexoffice @ delivery.ng>, Know this is a fraudulent email. Here is what FedEx wants you to do: “If you have received a fraudulent e-mail that claims to be from FedEx, you can report it by forwarding it to abuse@fedex.com. If the fraudulent e-mail resulted in financial loss you should contact your banking institution immediately through the appropriate channels. In addition, consider contacting the IC3 or your state Attorney General’s office.”

Missing Avatars

Monday, April 1st, we will be cracking down on spambots and other spammers using our site. To define who is who, we are deleting all users with no avatar or have one that looks like the default avatar you see to your right. Please make sure your avatar is updated. Some avatars will still be added from spammers. FLAG THEM. Let me know right away. You can see our activity stream with flag buttons on spammer updates. 

Who is a spammer? Someone that signs up for a network site just to post a link to theirs. No interaction, no profile details. Usually, you can identify these activity posts with the words: “more info”. 

See one? Flag it and they automatically receive a warning.
